High quality maps

To make sure our maps are the highest standard, in Europe we use premium quality maps from HERE, as used by most leading sat-nav systems. You can store maps directly on your device, but you don’t need to download all of the maps at once thanks to our intelligent map management. Once you’ve licensed a region such as Europe, you can manage which regions/countries, for example UK & Ireland you need maps for and save a lot of space on your device. Learn how to manage your maps>

Enjoy your drive

Offline maps are important because they provide the driver peace of mind – with no data costs to you at home and no data roaming abroad. You have access to all the detailed, street-level maps directly on your device so you can use your navigation offline without having to rely on your mobile network.  So whether you are driving in the Alps without mobile network coverage or have disabled data roaming in Spain, you can relax and simply enjoy driving: CoPilot will guide you offline with full-spoken, turn-by-turn directions along your route.

Enjoy your destination

But wait, it doesn’t stop there! CoPilot apps have thousands of offline points of interest from hotels, restaurants and attractions to car parks, petrol stations and car hire, so you can explore the destination without data roaming.

You can find a complete list of all the countries included in our European apps here>

*The latest maps are available for your licensed region only. Due to the increasing size of our Europe maps, we had to remove the country of Turkey from our Europe map region. Learn more >

How Can I Calculate 3 Alternative Routes In CoPilot?

Now that you’ve read about how CoPilot’s ActiveTraffic™ feature can help you find your best route, we thought we’d let you know about how you can further customize your CoPilot to make it work for you.

One of the best ways to achieve this is our ‘Alternate Routes’ feature.

We Lead, But You’re in Control

When you input your destination address and journey requirements into CoPilot, the first route to come up will be optimal one, with all factors and calculations considered (such as traffic, speed limits and distance).

However, should you have any personal preferences, you’re able to control your best way. CoPilot will automatically generate up to three different route alternatives for you, so you can make a selection. These three routes will be calculated using the same algorithm but will vary slightly – to give you some control over your route, should you have any personal preferences. The differing distances and ETAs will be displayed to help you make your decision.

To access these options, click on ‘Alternate’ in the bottom left corner and you’ll be given the option to choose your preferred route.

It’s extremely easy to select from the different variants: simply click on your favoured route and then on the ‘back’ arrow in the top left hand corner to return to the ‘My Route’ screen. If you’ve changed your route you will see a popup saying ‘Alternate Route X is now your Current Route’.

This new course will now display on screen.

If you choose to change your route in reaction to the traffic bar, you’re able to choose again from three different routes, just like when you first mapped out your journey.

You can change your route again at any point during your journey, simply click back to the main menu, click ‘My Route’ and click again on the ‘Alternate’ button.

This vital CoPilot feature is sure to become integral to the way you make your journeys: whether they’re one off trips in a new places where you don’t want any nasty surprises, or just to help you optimize your daily duties.

Is there anything more satisfying than beating the crowds and saving time? What are you going to do with all that saved time and money?

CoPilot Tips: Map Management to Save Space

map-update-copilotHolidays are made for those very important travel shots – what would your friends do if they didn’t see pictures of your feet at the beach, delicious plates of food and selfies with a beautiful background? However, all those pictures need space!

We know that storage is precious on any smartphone and tablet, and rather than having to choose between deleting pictures you intend to Instagram or publish in Facebook, let CoPilot give you some much needed space back.

If you have downloaded maps of the whole of Europe or Western Europe, we’ve got some great news for you: you can cut down on some of that storage space with some very intelligent map management.

You don’t actually have to download ALL the freshly updated European maps, but to save precious space on your mobile/ tablet, you can pick and choose just the maps you need.

For example, if you drive from Manchester to Marseille you only have to download maps of UK+IE and France, and if you drive from Berlin to Rome, you only need DACH + Italy regions. After the trip you can delete the maps you don’t need, and enjoy the freed space. Just go to My CoPilot -> My Maps

Android users: you can now save your maps to your SD card if you have KitKat or above**. Find out more>
