CoPilot UK Blog

A FREE map update is here!

uk sat nav map update copilot M74We’ve been putting the finishing touches to our latest app update for CoPilot Live Premium and CoPilot GPS (v9.3) – in fact it’s available right now on the App Store, Google Play and CoPilot Webstore.

In addition to a variety of improvements and new features, arguably the biggest deal in this update is completely updated NAVTEQ maps for our customers in Europe, Australasia and South Africa. That’s a free map update folks!

As we all know, maps are at the heart of any sat nav system, and keeping them up to date is important. We use premium quality (and expensive!) maps from NAVTEQ, as used by most leading in-car nav systems, and previously we’ve only been able to bring you updates on an occasional basis.

However, in addition to this free update, we’ll be bringing Premium customers regular free updates in the future too. So think of your CoPilot purchase as an investment in the future – for features AND updated quality maps.*

UK customers might be interested to know that this particular free map update brings several major changes to the road network including:

  • M74 extension in Glasgow. The new maps include this new stretch of motorway as well as the revised motorway network around the city.
  • Hindhead Tunnel. The new maps include this new tunnel and road layout that bypasses Hindhead and the Devil’s Punch Bowl
  • The second Tyne Tunnel
  • The Weymouth Relief Road
  • The new section of the M80 in Glasgow

I didn’t get a prompt to update my maps, despite having installed the Android application update. I deleted my UK map, and re-downloaded it – I’m hoping this was enough to get the new version? Is there a way to check the version?

I found with the new version installed I had to re-login to my Copilot account – the map update was then offered.

      The same happened to me.
I deleted my IT map and downloaded it again.
Now if I go to “main menu” -> “options” -> “info about CoPilot Live” (menu names are translated by me from italian) in the various version numbers I find 2012 instead of 2011.

There appears to be a problem here. Downloading the maps and following the procedures on this webpage causes the map to download and appear to complete with the download button showing it is 99% complete. Despite multiple attempts this never actually completes and so the next time round it tries to restart the entire downloading process again.

Have run out of ideas as to what can be done here!

Didn’t work for me either so I deleted the existing UK map and redownloaded. What, actually, is the difference between CoPilot GPS (which is what I have) and CoPilot premium?

The downloads are normally in “News and Updates” Very simple and starightforward. The instructions above haven’t worked for me, as I do not get the pop-up box. So how I’m going to get my update is beyond me – for now….

So I uninstalled CoPilot as instructed and downloaded and installed latest free update. However, it refused to accept the licence code for my previous install with “Invalid Upgrade Code” mesage. So, stuck with no working satnav and no way to get it working. Any thoughts?

Difficult to get map update. Did not work in an automatic way. I had to download maps several times as it can not reach 100% at the first time, stopping in the middle. I erase and restart download few times
to finally get the whole map.

My latest dealings with support were very good, but the instructions here are not clear. I have live 8 and although it is the older product, I find it better than premium (have tried but went back to Live). However the instructions for updating from their web site (not android Play) are very sketchy. I am downloading the maps again but I don’t know if this is the upgrade or just the original maps.
Please try and make it easier, Copilot. Its been 4 years and there are still missing roads around here.

I uninstalled my maps to try and reinstall to my memory card, I cannot find an option to get the maps onto my memory card on a Samsung S3, any ideas, but once reinstalled the copilot app I now cannot get it to work, comes up with invalid licence first time error 717 and now error 708, anyone got any ideas, have contacted copilot support and they have sent me three emails with what I should do but none have worked, still the same stuck with no maps and no updates.

Why isn’t it a simple update? I don’t fancy deleting anything hoping that it will be replaced before I download tghe replacement. Make it simple, not an exercise in reprogramming

Agree with others above. I had to delete the map, and then it downloaded. This was using a Samsung S3 with UK and Irelend maps. The map size started at 182 mb (old version)…and the new version is 202.2 mb.

Yeah great! Updated maps and POI’s are still years out of date!

Still shows Burger king down the road and it’s not been there for at least 2 years!
