A safer road to take – CoPilot Live v8 Truck

A survey conducted by National Rail into the main reasons why rail bridge strikes occur concluded that in 32% of cases, the driver was unaware of the height of the vehicle they were driving.

With more employed or contract drivers being expected to handle a variety of vehicles of different dimensions, this statistic may not be as surprising as it first seems.

The report also highlights the very specific dangers and liabilities associated with railway bridge strikes ‚Äď the potential risk to rail passengers and the¬†cost¬†of repairs that can¬†effect both individual driver and employee company.

Providing vehicle-specific, Sat Nav routing, CoPilot Live v8 Truck can help the commercial vehicle driver avoid bridge strikes and other common driving hazards.

A simple menu setting enables tailored routing based on the height, width, weight and length of the vehicle in use. HAZCHEM options can further customise the route away from areas of dense population.

Advanced preparation

Once programmed, a Preview option allows a review of the selected route prior to commencement while on the road, if the programmed route is blocked, a Detour function in CoPilot Live v8 Truck will safely find an alternative, still based on the current vehicle dimensions and load.

Multiple profiles means that CoPilot Live v8 Truck can easily accommodate the dimensions of a variety of vehicles so while the route may differ from cab to cab, it will be a safer road to take.
