CoPilot guides the XDA Guide!

o2-xda-guide-copilot

There’s a new sat nav phone in town, and it’s got CoPilot Live pre-installed as standard. It’s good to see that the new Xda Guide from O2 has started appearing in stores around the UK. Featuring a custom, fully-integrated edition of CoPilot Live and supplied with an in-car holder and charger, it’s the ideal portable and flexible alternative to a dedicated sat nav system.

O2 has been including CoPilot with their ‘navigation-centric’ smartphones for some time, most notably the wildly successful Xda Orbit and Orbit 2. It’s an integral feature on the new Xda Guide, with seamless access from the phone’s Navipanel, Footprints geotagged photos application and from the navigation button on the front of the device. UK and Ireland maps are included as standard, preloaded on a memory card with the device, so as with all CoPilot products, there’s no need to rely on the mobile network every time you want to go somewhere.

It’s available from free with certain pay-monthly contracts, and you can’t really argue with that in these credit crunch times!

I use my CoPilot all the time, without putting in a destination if I am travelling to a known destination. It flags upcoming Speed cameras. A fairly good safety measure, but only for those roads with speed cameras.
However, I would prefer it to show the actual speed limit of the road. Is the road speed limit part of the mapping system?
If so, could the designers for CoPilot 8 incorporate an easily recognisable icon to display the actual speed limit of each road as you travel down it? If not, could they make the icon which indicates the speed camers speed limit, show the actual speed of the car a lot bigger, so I can see it at a glance, rather than have to stare at the screen for a fairly long time to see it, thereby taking my eyes off the road for an inordinate amount of time.
There is a system on the market that actually shows the road speed imit, and can automatically limit the speed of the car to the road speed limit. I am not suggesting this, but would like an indication of the road speed limit, so I can keep as far as possible within the law.

Hello there Alan, thank you for your comment and feedback.
Road speed limit alerts are a feature which we are actively looking at for future versions of CoPilot.
    We will keep you posted!
In the meantime, don’t hesitate to send us any further suggestions about how we can improve the product.
    Best regards,
    David
