Our latest update, v 9.4.0.276, is available now for iOS users! Here’s what you get with our  free update:copilot-just-drive-iphone4_US

  • NEW! Connection Settings with an offline switch – We’re giving our users an offline switch to help you control your data costs. – abroad and at home. You are able to disallow all data, or choose options to enable and disable. The app also warns you if your mobile switches from WIFI to 3G. Just go to “Settings” -> “Cellular Data Usage” and choose which settings work for you.
  • NEW! Just Drive mode– for all the times your journey has no destination, this mode allows you to drive without a route but still provides you with your location and traffic on your road.
  • NEW! Closed road notification with ActiveTraffic™– If our traffic feed says there is a closed road on your route we now give an explicit pop-up notifying you about the closed road. The pop-up gives you an option to find an alternative route or close/ignore the pop-up.
  •  Automatic Cloud Backup
  • Updated and corrected Tunnel mode and other fixes

Following their exciting WWDC conference, Apple has made some changes to the requirements for detecting devices. Our CoPilot team has adjusted our process accordingly which means that all future app updates will work with devices equipped with iOS 6.0 or greater.copilot-data-settings-iphone4_US

Most of our users will be unaffected because every iPhone is that CoPilot runs on has iOS 6. If you have iOS 5, we strongly recommend updating to iOS 6 to continue using CoPilot and receiving all of our future updates.

For iPad (1st Generation) customers who are unable to update to a newer OS version: you can of course continue to use your CoPilot app exactly as before, but will be unable to update to a newer version of CoPilot on that device. You may wish to download the current app from the App Store to iTunes on your computer as a backup should you need it, as you may be unable to download and install it from the App Store to your device.

If you get a new iPad in the future, you’ll be able to simply re-download from the App Store and login to continue using it – and get future app updates.

Survive Amusement Park Adventures with CoPilot!

amusement park

Warm weather leads to outdoor fun and what’s a better way to spend your day then riding roller coasters? Amusement Parks can be an overwhelming place but with your CoPilot app and a few of our tips, we think you can get a pretty good handle on this massive carnival.

weather screenshotCheck the weather: Use CoPilot to check the weather before you leave, that way you can dress accordingly. It’s always a good idea to bring layers in case the weather changes once you arrive.

Park Smart: CoPilot can help you remember where you park, a feature that comes in handy after hours upon hours of being out in a crowd and in the sun.

Charging Case: Along with using CoPilot’s power saving mode, it may be worth it to invest in a case that protects and charges your phone if you’re going to be out of the house for hours at a time.

Waterproof your device…sorta: Keep your phone in a clear, plastic zip lock bag to ensure that it won’t get too wet when you’re on a water ride.

Map out the park: You know how to navigate, you use CoPilot after all! It’s easier to know where you’re headed before you get there and it saves time too! Another useful hint: Start at the back of the park and work your way to the front. Most parkgoers will start at the first ride they see which leads to long wait times for you!

Always pick a spot to meet: If anyone from your group should get lost, make sure to designate a place to meet.

And most importantly, remember to have fun!

If you’re near Addison, Texas: Kaboom Town!, a 30 minute firework extravaganza can be seen anywhere in  Addison and broadcast on all 170 restaurants in town.

If you’re near San Diego: The Big Bay Boom, an annual event located at the San Diego bay, can be seen from four different locations. Make your way to Shelter Island, Harbor Island, Embarcadero or Seaport Village/Coronado Landing to watch the epic firework illustration.

If you’re near New Orleans: Fireworks in the Big Easy look grand over the Mississippi River. The best part about these pyrotechnics? They can be seen from many points throughout the city which is helpful to those looking to avoid a crowded downtown area.

If you’re near Saint Louis: Fair Saint Louis invites you to take in the sight of fireworks underneath the Gateway Arch! The 3 day event kicks off with live music from Trace Adkins, Brett Michaels and the Counting Crows along with many other fun family-friendly activities.

We hope you have an amazing Independence Day wherever you decide to go!

Lost? CoPilot GPS now officially available for Windows Phone 8 by Daniel Rubino

“The popular navigation app brings yet-another solid choice to Windows Phone users who are looking for a concrete driving solution. Truth be told, we’ve been using the app for a few weeks now and have been quite impressed with its bold graphics, traffic integration (we really like the traffic bar to the right), voice navigation (yes, some of the voices even announce street names) and overall “smartness” of the app, including a ton of various configurations.”

With any smartphone or tablet, battery life is a hot commodity meant to be rationed by any means necessary. Rest assured, CoPilot users, we know and understand this logic and have given you a way to save on power while navigating. In addition to lowering screen brightness and turning off vibrate mode, CoPilot offers a way to help reduce the amount of battery used.

Inside the CoPilot app, you can go to Settings and choose Power Saving. Once there, choose a lower setting which will move the map display fewer times per second and help save your battery.
