December MapSure Requests and Map Update Now Available

We’ve just released a new free monthly map maintenance update for all CoPilot Live North America, CoPilot Live USA, CoPilot Live HD North America and CoPilot Live Directions customers. The new update includes emergency road closures, updates reported by users via MapSure™ during the month of December and other improvements.  So if you submitted a street or address change in December via MapSure, it’s now available!

You can download the free update directly from your device via mobile web or WiFi, here’s how:

  • Go to MENU > Updates and tap “Check for Updates”
  • After the download is finished, make sure to completely restart CoPilot Live to ensure the update is complete.  If you do not restart, you will not see the new map data.

 

If you prefer to have your device check for these monthly updates automatically:

  • Go to MENU > Updates and select the “Check for Updates When CoPilot Starts” option and tap OK

Quarterly Maps

IMPORTANT:  In order to receive the monthly update you MUST have the latest Quarterly Maps on your CoPilot Live for the map maintenance updates to work. 

  • For iPhone & iPad customers:  You can download the latest free Quarterly map update via the most recent application update in your iTunes. 
  • For CoPilot Live Directions & Laptop customers: You can download the latest free Quarterly map update directly from your device.  Within CoPilot Live, go to Menu > Get Maps
  • For Windows Mobile & Android customers:  Download your free full map update using the latest version of CoPilot Central 2.0 desktop companion software. You can download and install CoPilot Central 2.0 from www.copilotlive.com/central.  You must also have the latest version of CoPilot Live for your Windows Mobile or Android device.  You can also download the latest version of maps directly from your phone using CoPilot Live.  Within CoPilot Live, go to Menu > Get Maps

ALK MapSure Service

This free update is part of our MapSure service that guarantees you always have the very latest map of North America on your CoPilot Live. Click here to report a map improvement through MapSure today or you can now report MapSure updates directly from within CoPilot Live.  Just go to MENU > MapSure

    Ive had Copilot Live USA installed since October 15, 2010, but have yet to see any announcement of a quarterly map update being available. How will I know when a quarterly update is available, and how do I know which quarterly map version I have installed?

      Hi UncleMike,

      Android and iPhone quarterly map updates are available through free app updates downloaded from the Android Market and iTunes.

      The Q3 quarterly maps were released in Version 8.2.0.381 for iPhone which was announced on December 1, 2010. The app update is available via iTunes. Here is the blog post detailing the update: http://blog.us.copilotlive.net/?p=1906

      The Q3 quarterly maps were released in Version 8.2.0.406 for Android which was announced on December 15, 2010. The app update is available via Android Market. Once you have the latest version on your phone there are 2 ways you can download the latest maps to your device:

      1. Download the free full map update using the latest version of CoPilot Central 2.0 from http://www.copilotlive.com/central.
      2. Download the latest version of maps directly from your phone using CoPilot Live. Within CoPilot Live, go to Menu > Get Maps and select the area of map you wish to update.

      We always announce updates here on the blog, on Twitter, Facebook and depending on what device you have, it should also alert you when a new version is available along with details of what that version includes. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Hello. fter I downloaded the map update, the information in the “About CoPilot Live” section stayed exactly the same. Does the latest map version have a number so we can see if the download was successful? I only ask because I have been having trouble with the map maintenance updates, as my iPhone 4 app always thinks there is a more recent map available to download no matter how many times I download it. I just wanna be sure it took. Old info when GPS-ing can be a horrible experience. Thanks in advance.

      Hi Gregory,

      The monthly map updates will not show up in About CoPilot. What will show up there is the version of quarterly map data you have. In the second line you will see Data: followed by a number. We’re currently using our Q3 map data right now so you should see GRD_ALK.NA.2010.03.4.3.2.1

      For the monthly map update, after you downloaded the update, did you see a message that asked you to restart CoPilot? If so, and you restarted, then the monthly map update was definitely downloaded properly.

    I submitted a map update in december but the software is not indicating any updates are available on either my droid or on my PC.

      Hi Dan,

      Can you check to see you have the latest version of CoPilot Live on your Android? The latest version of the Android app available from Android Market is 8.2.0.406. You must have the latest version to get the quarterly & monthly map updates.

      Now if you have the latest version, can you check to see that you have downloaded the Q3 maps either via Central or from your device? To do so, please go to MENU > Settings > About CoPilot and check to see that in the second line you see: GRD_ALK.NA.2010.03.4.3.2.1

      If you don’t then you must first download the Q3 quarterly maps. There are 2 ways to do this:

      1. Download the free full map update using the latest version of CoPilot Central 2.0 from http://www.copilotlive.com/central.
      2. Download the latest version of maps directly from your phone using CoPilot Live. Within CoPilot Live, go to Menu > Get Maps and select the area of map you wish to update.

      Once this is complete, go back to MENU > Updates in your CoPilot Live and you should have no problem getting the monthly update.

    Hey! I can’t wait for the new Android, but I can’t seem to open your site on my IPhone. Does your server block my IP address? I appreciate it. luv Anthony

    After installing these updates including the software update to 8.2.0.407 Central no longer shows North America as my currently licensed version (i.e., is no longer blue). Have restarted Central but this did not make a difference and North America still does not show as a licensed region.
